Draft Day 2025 Hype

The NFL Draft is Christmas morning for DieHard Dynasty players who obsess over fantasy football. New players, new situations and new depth charts alter the competitive landscape of dynasty. We have to quickly adapt to the picks as they unfold and re-evaluate players in the context of their new situations.

Here are the biggest storylines I’ll be on the lookout for:

The WTF Offensive Player Selection that feels like a reach

Last year it was the Falcons taking Michael Penix after signing Kirk Cousins to a lucrative deal. The year prior it was the Lions taking Jahmyr Gibbs despite having D’Andre Swift in their backfield. What will it be this year? Golden to the Cowboys at 12 would be insane (and foolish imo) but that undeniable draft capital would entrench him in the first round of Superflex startup drafts. Or maybe Shedeur or Jaxson Dart get taken in the middle of the first round as the heir apparents to aging signal callers? Who knows!

Backfield and TE Landing Spots

I’ve been beating the drum that this class is loaded at RB just like the rest of the dynasty community. I wrote an article on the best RB landing spots for this year’s class earlier and without rehashing that too much whoever goes to Chicago, Denver or the Raiders will see their stock go to the moon. Jeanty to the Jaguars is also gaining steam which would be good news for Trevor Lawrence and a death knell to Travis Etienne’s prospects of a bounce back year.

Tyler Warren and Colston Loveland are already being billed as top 5 TE options at the position. If Warren goes to the Jets and Loveland goes to the Chargers look for Loveland to move up boards and be a coin flip with Warren. They both become surefire mid round first round rookie picks with 1st round draft capital as top 2 options for an offense.

The Juggernaut offense skill position selections

Every year whoever the Bills, Chiefs or Bengals select on offense see an immediate bump in fantasy value. This year lookout for the Chiefs to take a runningback, the Bills to take a WR and the Bengals to focus on defense or do the absurd and bring in competition for Chase Brown in their backfield. Lookout for the Bengals to bring in a TE (not today but maybe on day 2 or 3) to solidify the best receiving core in the league.

If TreVeyon Henderson lands on the Broncos and Omarion Hampton lands on the Bears then the 1.03 will become absurdly valuable. I don’t consider the Broncos or Bears juggernauts but they are trending that way given the coaching staff and player acquistion moves both sides have made.
